Guidelines for Developing Good Manufacturing Practices
PMA introduces the third edition of Design Guidelines for Precision Metal Stampings & Fabrications
The Third Edition Design Guidelines for Precision Metal Stampings & Fabrications is published by the
Precision Metalforming Association to help answer the metal stamping questions which professionals that engage
in forming and working metals have. This publication is designed to help engineers, designers and purchasers to
more cost-effectively specify and source precision metal stamped, fabricated and formed component parts. It
espouses today's best practices for achieving lower cost, quality parts.
Originally published in 1991, the book is currently in its 3rd Edition. Over time it has been distributed to
more than 20,000 industry professionals. Typically, a member company will acquire copies of Design Guidelines
from the Association and in turn provide the book to their valued customers as a service.
PMA is a full-service trade association representing the $91-billion metalforming industry-the industry that
creates precision metal products using stamping, fabricating and other value-added processes. Its nearly 1,100
member companies include leading contract manufacturers and suppliers.
